Lake Atitlan-Land of Beauty

lake-atitlanLake Atitlan, the deepest lake of Central America, is situated in the highlands of Guatemala. Lake Atitlan is rich in biodiversity and inhabits some of the rare fresh water fishes. The lake is surrounded by three volcanoes of San Pedro, Toliman and Atitlan. The three volcanoes are considered to be still active and eruptive. There are number of towns and villages inhabited by Mayan people found around this lake. The lake supports a vast area of agricultural region cultivating coffee and corn. During recent years, there has enormous development tourist infrastructure supported by the government. The green dense forest surrounding the lake Atitlan was announced as National Park due to its rich flora and fauna. The scenic beauty and pleasant environment makes us feel the utmost happiness of our life. The lake is famous for the boat riding and water sports like diving and kayaking. The Indian head in the top of the mountain is also an exciting place to visit. The walk along the lakeside path must relax your reflexes and keeps you fresh and revives the mind and body.  The Maya culture practiced in the nearby villages is fascinating and enchanted to the tourists. Panajachel is the nearest town which is connected to the other parts of Guatemala.
